Bidding & Buying Guide
How Our Auctions Work
First, some general information:
- Kramer Auction Service is a second-generation, family owned auction company in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin – specializing in firearms, ammunition, military items, and other sporting goods.
- Kramer Auction Service has at least four premium gun auctions each year – featuring thousands of long guns, handguns, and military firearms. In addition, there are several other auctions that feature ammunition, reloading equipment, sporting accessories and collectibles, and other firearms.
- We facilitate the auction and transfer of the firearms and other items. These guns come from estates, collections, and individuals looking to buy & sell their guns.
Bidding & Buying Process
1. Register & Browse with Kramersales.com
Our auctions are available online here at kramersales.com. For each auction we host, a full catalog is available online for you to view with expert descriptions and professional photos of each item.
As the auction is underway, you can leave hidden maximum bids for the items you are interested in. Additionally, as auction lots begin to close, you can watch live and bid in real-time.
You will need an account with us and provide your credit card information for payment.
2. Auction Closes
Once the auction closes, winning bidders will be notified by email they have listed with our online bidding platform. In most cases, your credit card is automatically charged for the total amount for items purchased plus an Internet Premium. For gun auctions, invoices over $3,000 have the option to pay with personal check or money order for a 3% discount. These buyers will receive a separate invoice direct from Kramer Auction Service within 48 hours of the close of the sale.
As always, check the Terms of Sale for each auction for specific information related to each auction.
3. Shipping & Pickup
The majority of our auction items are shipped out via UPS or USPS, however many of our local/regional buyers come to our auction house to pick-up in person. For those that pick-up in person, we process all paperwork and initiate a background check as required. Post-auction pickups must be scheduled in advance.
For shipped items, non-gun, black powder, or antique items can be shipped directly to the buyer. However, most guns must be shipped to a licensed dealer in your area. Once there, that dealer will handle any required paperwork and background checks with you, usually for a fee.
All items are carefully packed into boxes for shipment. We take a lot of pride in making sure guns and other items arrive to their destination without incident. All items are shipped fully-insured. Once the package(s) are prepared, the buyer is charged for the shipping and handling fees via their card on file with Proxibid.
4. Federal Firearms License (FFL’s)
If you purchase a modern firearm that needs to be shipped to a licensed dealer, you will need to make arrangements with them to receive the shipment from Kramer Auction.
Kramer Auction will need a current copy of that dealer’s Federal Firearms License (FFL) sent to us before we can ship your gun to the dealer. Please take the time to make arrangements to have that FFL sent as soon after the auction as possible.
Because we ship to thousands of dealers each year, it is helpful to us – and speeds up the shipping process – to receive a copy of an FFL for each sale, even if you have purchased guns with us before. In addition to helping us quickly know where any guns should be sent, it also ensures that the licenses we have on file stay up to date and we don’t have to make assumptions about which dealer in your area you’d like to work with.
FFL’s can be emailed to ffl@kramersales.com .
And again, once your gun arrives at your area licensed gun dealer, they will handle any required paperwork and background checks with you before you take possession of the firearm.
